What’s on in August? Truro’s Getting a Health Kick…

Who needs New Year to make a resolution? If you fancy getting a little fitter this summer, the Be Active Truro festival could be just the inspiration you need. Between August 10th and August 15th Truro’s Lemon Quay is set to be transformed into a fitness hub for all to enjoy.

Belonging to a wider collective of Get Active Cornwall, the festival is designed to motivate people to take a minimum of 30 minutes exercise each week. This is no boring gym setup though; the Be Active Truro festival will be full of fun activities to try, as well as hosting an alternative sports day.

The sports day event will take place on Sunday 16th August right in the heart of Truro. If you can muster up some friends to go with you, teams of six can enter into dodge ball competitions, NERF tournaments and a Tuff Enuff course. If all that sounds too tiring, don’t worry; there’ll be a range of fresh smoothies on offer to cool you down…

And for those that just fancy watching other people do all the work (you know who you are), you can observe some skateboarding and BMX riding in the half-pipe arena.

Previous activities have included yoga, ping pong, fencing, boxing, archery, windsurfing instruction, rock climbing, basketball and even an egg and spoon race!

This event is for everyone, so pop on down, take a look, try things out and who knows; you may even get a new hobby!
