Sometimes there’s nothing better than going for a good old walk.
Stress relief, time to think and a superb way to spend an afternoon, a good long walk is often just what the doctor ordered, and we just so happen to have a few routes lined up for your stay with us at Merchant House! (Convenient, eh?)
South West Coast Path
A short journey to Falmouth (either by bus or train) leads to a multitude of routes to enjoy the South West Coast Path; a beautiful trail circumnavigating Cornwall’s coastline in its entirety.
There’s the Falmouth to Portloe route, or if you fancied ending your ramble watching the boats go by with fish and chips on the harbour, the Helford to Falmouth section of path works just as well (and any day ending with fish and chips is a good day to us!)
For those a little more inclined to take in the city before you head to the coast, then there are some short walks in and around Truro to enjoy; it’s a great way to get your bearings in our lovely city, and if you’re already familiar with Truro, you may find something new!
Here’s a couple from Tails from the Track starting from the station, not too far from Merchant House!
As featured in our ‘Magnificent Gardens’ blog, the splendour of Trelissick Gardens has strolled on over to make an appearance in our guide to walks in and around Truro too – there’s just so much on offer we can’t keep quiet about it!
With 300 acres of estate to uncover (thirty acres of which are elevated gardens), there’s countryside, woodlands and coast to admire on what is an afternoon of discovery and appreciation of the lovely Cornish environment.
PS. Don’t be worried about Rover, although he’s not allowed in the gardens there are plenty of parkland and woodland areas to run around in!
We always welcome walkers at Merchant House, so lace up, open the door and experience the great outdoors at your own pace, we’ll have a coffee and cake waiting for you when you get back!
