Summertime Fun – Best Summer Activities

There is so much to see and do in Cornwall, especially when the sun is shining! We’ve blogged about our best ways to spend summer days this month. Read on to be inspired for your holiday in Cornwall:

Sea Swimming

A day at the beach is a day well spent, even better if you get to enjoy paddling in the clear water. Feeling brave? Take a dip in the morning when the water is still and serene or perhaps at the end of the day when it’s still warm from the sun and you can enjoy a glass of something to warm you up when you step out! Our favourite places to paddle are Castle Beach in Falmouth (the little sister to the popular Gyllyngvase Beach) or the private beach at Trelissick which is always nice for a peaceful swim.

Newquay Activity Centre

The Newquay Activity Centre, located on Fistral beach – the home of British surfing, is a one-stop shop for adrenaline junkies, outdoor adventurists and anyone keen to dabble in water sports. Offering over 30 ocean based activities that are open to all ages, levels and abilities, means there really is something for everyone. The action packed adventures include surfing lessons & coaching weekends, bodyboarding classes & camps, Super Stand Up Paddle toursCoasteering along the Cornish coast, handplaning in Atlantic rollers, and hilariously fun beach challenges such as the Cornish Challenge. All activities are available to small or large groups, families, individual lessons, stag & hen parties, corporate events and even military adventurous training days. Ranked number one on Tripadvisor for days out in Cornwall, and two time Gold winners of the Cornish Tourism Awards, you’re guaranteed a day out you’ll never forget!

Dolphin Spotting

Hop on a boat and explore the water to see marine life, seals and perhaps even whales and dolphins! Orca Sea Safaris leave from Falmouth and offer wildlife watching and coastal safaris. Enjoy an informative commentary from the skipper and learn all about the local history, shipwrecks, smugglers tales and the Cornish marine environment.

Cornwall is the perfect place for a walking break and at Merchant House we welcome walkers all year round. We will ensure you enjoy a cracking Full English breakfast to keep your energy levels high and can even provide a packed lunch to enjoy en route. Return after a day of hiking to relax in our cosy lounge with complimentary tea and homemade cake… it doesn’t get much better than this!

We can store your bike for you, there is a dedicated wash/dry room to wash and dry your kit and we can recommend some fantastic routes to get you into the saddle! Discover Flora & Fauna

Summer is a wonderful time to explore the local gardens and with so many on our doorstep we’re spoiled for choice! Trebah, Glendurgan, Trelissick, Heligan and Trewithen are just a few on the must-visit list, featuring a variety of plants and trees, pretty bridges, nooks and crannies, private beaches and lots of hidden surprises – many gardens are dog friendly too so why not bring Fido to discover the flora and fauna as well!
