In our November Secrets of the Locals we’re talking about our favourite dog friendly beaches!
Famed for being Fido-friendly, Perranporth is a superb stretch of sand meaning dogs can run, get sandy and explore rock pools to their hearts content! Cool off with a drink or two at the Watering Hole, right on the beach!
We love Watergate. Stunning, scenic and sandy, it’s the perfect playground for pooches! Have lunch afterwards in the Beach Hut overlooking the beach (we highly recommend the Crab Linguine).
The Mecca of all things beach-themed, Mawgan Porth is sandy paw paradise! Run for miles and miles to burn off that energy and then flake out in the Merrymoor for a glass of something chilled whilst Fido enjoys lots of fuss from the friendly team.
The Gylly-Castle-Swanpool Hat Trick
Only dog friendly in the winter, it’s well worth a day out to Falmouth to do the beachy hat trick that is Gyllyngvase – Castle Beach – Swanpool. Head to the small and crowd-free Castle Beach to start then walk the sea front, along the cliff path and all the way to Swanpool, stopping en route in the field behind the cliff path to run Fido and take in the incredible views. Once you’ve explored Swanpool, head back towards Gyllynvase or for a slightly longer walk, have a wander around Swanpool Lake first. When you get to Gylly, run Rover and then flake out sandy, salty and exhausted at Gylly Beach Café and enjoy a hot chocolate or some lunch. It’s the perfect doggy day out!
These are some of our favourite dog friendly beaches in Cornwall. Which ones do you recommend? Let us know your favourites on our Facebook page and we’ll be sure to check them out!
