Putting the Mmm into Mannings: Taste of Truro

Our Taste of Truro break has proved to be very popular and we’re pretty sure it’s because we’ve personally selected three of the very best places to dine in Truro and included them in our deal. One of our featured restaurants is our sister hotel and restaurant, Mannings, renowned for their dining experience and recently raved about by leading food critic, Jay Rayner. We decided to pop down to Mannings to say hi and ask the Head Chef Joe some questions about the Mannings experience:

Hi Joe! Tell us a bit about Mannings:

Mannings is a vibrant restaurant known for our fresh, local ingredients, sumptuous steaks, great service, delicious dishes and generous portions! We’ve been around for over 20 years and still have regulars who have been visiting us since the day we opened!

Tell us about the new menu:

We have our new Winter Specials menu but also we’ve just launched our new core menu also. The specials feature some delicious seasonal favourites crafted by our culinary team.

Where do you like to eat in Truro other than Mannings?

Oh, it’s a tricky one… I personally like the Thai fusion style of cuisine and so nowhere does this quite like Mannings. However, I also love fresh seafood and so if I’m enjoying a special evening out, you can’t go wrong with the Seafood Café and a bottle of fizz!

What is the best thing about living and working in Cornwall?

The people – we have such a friendly and collaborative culture that we’re often working in partnership on joint ventures. Also, I have to say the food! Cornwall is really on the map, we have Stein, Outlaw, Ainsworth and more, we’re really very lucky to be privy to such cheffing talent and also to an abundance of fresh, local ingredients.

And of course, they’re not the only names, you are soon to be in the Good Food Guide, the Michelin Guide, plus a recent Rosette Award. And also, a rave review in The Guardian?

Ha ha, yes our team has worked really hard and it’s always great to be recognised but at the end of the day, we’re not fine dining and we’ve never been about the accolades, we just serve great food and although we are truly honoured to have such great reviews, awards and mentions, for us, it’s about making sure our customers love it here and knowing that we continue to be full pretty much every lunch time and evening is all the proof we need that we’re doing something right!

Thank you Joe, fantastic to catch up with you and we’re excited that such a fantastic restaurant is part of our Taste of Truro deal!
