November Nibbles

fish and chips

Grab your coats, scarves and wooly hats…we’re off on a tasty tour of Truro!

Whether you’re doing a spot of Christmas shopping, out and about with your significant other or just fancy a little something to peck at whilst going about your business, look no further than our ‘November nibbles’ collection:

Duke Street Sandwich Deli

Quite simply, if bread and filling’s your thing, Duke Street Sandwich Deli is king.

Fresh food, healthy ingredients, and we’ve heard they’re a charitable bunch too; what’s not to like? Heralded by many patrons as making the best sandwiches and salads in Truro, they also serve the elusive ‘long black’ coffee, a real aficionado’s touch to proceedings.

Oggy Oggy Pasty Co.

Oggy oggy oggy!

We love a good oggy at Merchant House – pasty for those without the Celtic tongue – and find that savouring Cornwall’s finest export from Oggy Oggy Pasty Co. whilst walking the streets of Truro is a fine way to eat when in the city.

Traditional steak, chicken, vegetarian, beef and Stilton…there’s a crimp for every craving at Oggy Oggy.

Sole Plaice

Ah, fish and chips. One of the best (and tastiest) foods in our opinion, and we all know how hard it is to find a decent chippy!

Sole Plaice’s home-made batter, seasonal fish specials, locally and internationally sourced ingredients as well as a phone ordering service means you just have to dial for your dinner. (As always, you’re more than welcome to enjoy it in our lounge next to our cosy log burners.)

Hub Box

Gourmet burger, anyone? Hot dog, anyone? Craft beer, anyone?

Yes please, to all of the above! Hub Box has made its way into Truro’s hearts after they first appeared in the city serving from a modified shipping container, cooking up burgers the like of which Truro eaters had never seen.

Described by Head Chef Alex Towill as “a culinary project inspired by the kitchens of the Williamsburg District, New York.” Hub Box create their own distinctive pulled pork sandwiches, handmade burgers, free range pork hot dogs, and the ‘Hub Big Mack Daddy’ – Cornish Mackerel with shredded beetroot and horseradish mayonnaise. Delish.
