This month we were excited to interview Charlotte from The Seafood Café about their dog friendly ethos and fantastic food.
Hi Charlotte! Tell us a bit about about the Seafood Cafe
Hi! We are a family run restaurant offering an array of delicious fish and shellfish, as well as a selection of meat and vegetarian dishes. We pride ourselves on serving fresh, sustainable produce, with full traceability of all ingredients on the menu.
We feel we have designed our restaurant and menu with a very balanced approach so that you can enjoy dining with us on a laid back afternoon with friends, or a romantic evening with your partner… we have it covered!
We found out that you accept dogs, is this correct?
Oh we absolutely love dogs so yes, we recently made the decision to become dog friendly at lunchtimes and we haven’t looked back.
Our doggy guests get a bowl of chilled water, home made dog treats, and a fluffy bed to lie on while their owners enjoy their meal!
That sounds fab, Murphy is ready to book a table! Do you have any dogs of your own?
Valerie, my Mum, and restaurant owner has two girls; a Westie called Florence, and a Chihuahua called Princess. Both live in the flat above the restaurant so can often be seen roaming the grounds or sampling the new treats!
I personally have 3 Chihuahuas: Coco, Chanel and Barney. They come with us everywhere we go and we’ve even just applied for their dog passports so we can take them abroad for some winter sun!
Ooh Doggy passports, we like this idea! Perhaps Murphy can enjoy a summer exploring Europe! What is your favourite dish on the menu?
Oh it has to be the Pan fried John Dory with heritage carrots, spring greens, turmeric and saffron cream, bhajis and orange. It’s just so different, and gets all your taste buds tingling! Definitely a must!
Where do you like to eat in Truro other than the Seafood Cafe?
My fiancé Joey and I love Chantek Thai restaurant if we fancy something a bit different, or of course, my sisters restaurant; Bone China, for tapas and cocktails. And as you’re probably aware, we regularly frequent Mannings also as it’s somewhere we love to enjoy a nice meal with drinks.
What is the best thing about living and working in Cornwall?
Oooooh you can’t put that in one sentence there is just too much to list!
The beaches, the summer sun, the laid back lifestyle, the wildlife… I could go on.
Wow, thanks Charlotte! Anywhere that offers dog friendly dining is a friend of Merchant House. Not only that, but guests of Merchant House dining at the Seafood Café receive a complimentary drink when having two courses, even more reason to enjoy a visit with Fido!
