Three friends, two floors, one massive menu.
Started by three friends in Bristol in 2002, The Lounge has hardly been lazy in spreading across the nation (with over 30 branches including Liverpool, Brighton and Wales).
Visually, The Lounge is both fresh AND retro; murals, oil paintings and mirror-covered walls surround the tables as you tuck in to some of their most excellent food. Ah yes, the food…
To begin with, you can start your day with a bonjour, monsieur that only cinnamon French toast can bring, or go for broke with a howdy, mister with triple-stacked buttermilk pancakes (these are all from their Brunch Menu, which is served all day so you can have it whenever!)
Feast on New York steak sandwiches, jambalaya or mac n’ cheese for a Lounge classic main course and finish it off with a sweetly-sweetly banana split, warm brownie or a towering knickerbocker glory. Take us there now, please.
Other delectables include crispy back bacon butties, poached eggs on muffins, ciabatta sandwiches, paninis and salads. Not to mention the hot dog menu and BURGERZONE…in fact, don’t just take us there, we’re thinking of setting up camp, it’s got everything we want!
Drinks-wise, The Lounge has all the bubbles, Bloody Marys and ‘babyccinos’ you can shake a stick at – that is if you’re not too full from their Hero Burger or Rhode Island hot dog!
If this is all a bit meaty or wheaty for you, they also have vegan and gluten-free menus as well as one for little loungers!
This 220-capacity eatery is overlooked by ‘Dave’s Grandad’, the Lounges senior reporter; currently in Brighton, he’s the all-seeing eye sharing his experiences through an exclusive Twitter account – we think he looks a bit like Ronnie Barker, how about you? Check out the website to see what we mean!
Anyway, back to the grub – they’ve described their food success as ‘a happy accident’, but if this is a case of butterfingers, they can be as clumsy as they like! We approve!
