Good Luck Shelley!

Our fabulous Hotel manager Shelley is off on Maternity leave and to send her off in true Merchant House style we’ve asked her a few questions about the pregnancy so far…

How has your pregnancy been so far?

Pregnancy has been very good to me, just like my first was, although I feel very tired this time round, probably because I have a 20 month old to contend with now as well as work.  No morning sickness, cravings or issues apart from the usual 5 trips to the loo per night.

What are you most excited about?

I’m just excited about holding a tiny little baby again, it’s amazing how fast they grow.

Do you know if you’re having a baby boy or girl?

We have a baby girl on the way, which is perfect as we will have one of each and considering I was told I had less than 1% chance of conceiving naturally it’s amazing we had one never mind two!

Do you have any tips for being a working mum?

It’s difficult when you’ve always been a perfectionist and been able to take the time, work late and finish your tasks properly.  Suddenly you have to be working to a strict deadline every day so you can go and pick them up from nursery and you can’t always finish the task at hand within that time so you have to rush it and you know you haven’t given it your best, it’s very stressful!  Unfortunately your priorities have to change and you have to learn to accept that you cannot do everything perfectly like you used to do.

What do you spend your time doing when you aren’t here at Merchant House?

My days off are spent with my little boy Olly, my partner and the dogs.  We try to do something nice for Olly both days depending on the weather. Our favourite things to do are visiting the beach, feeding the ducks, or walking around the zoo.  Whatever the weather we always head out.

Do you have any ideas for names for your baby?

Yes, we have chosen one already.  We love the name Frankie, (Francesca Grace).  We think it’s very cute for a little girl but also quite cool for a teenager!

Everyone at Merchant House would like to wish Shelley all the best and we cannot wait to meet little Frankie.
