Altogether now: Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa la la la la…
We always get excited around Christmas time, and like us, Truro embraces every ounce of festive cheer, with events in the city throughout December reflecting the joyous, jolly folk who live and work here.
So if you’re struggling for that special gift, are looking to explore Cornwall’s ‘palate noël’ or simply want to make the most of the season of goodwill, look no further than our Merchant House Christmas calendar:
Wednesdays and Saturdays in Truro are alive with the sounds and scents of bustling stalls, traders’ banter and genuine, quality produce from Truro Farmers Market; they’ve even a special Christmas Eve showing for those last minute impulse buys!
Feeling nostalgic? The six-day Victorian Christmas Market has been giving a unique yuletide experience to Truro shoppers for ten glorious years; 2014 sees more than 65 traders showcasing their excellent edibles, arts, crafts and books in the famous heated marquee. What’s more, stallholders are more often than not in period costume – fantastic!
Shopping After Dark
Don’t let the cold put you off exploring Truro once the sun goes down. Mulled wine, hot chestnuts and the glow of Christmassy smiles in the city throughout late night shopping every Wednesday never fails to warm our cockles, and with shops open until 9pm there’s plenty of time to find the perfect present!
Another plus to late night shopping in Truro is that most surrounding car parks only charge £1 after 4pm. Now, who’s for mulled wine?
On Christmas Eve (unless you can’t move for the goodies you’ve bought at the Farmers Market), start the wind down to December 25th at the Falmouth Bay Seafood Café with a delightful mix of jazz and seafood.
We’ll be enjoying a little break over the main Christmas period but are more than happy to answer any questions about staying at Merchant House in December and the New Year. Please get in touch!
