Our very own Merchant House hotel hound Murphy has been very busy this festive season with plenty of outings in and around Truro. When he hasn’t been busy tearing apart wrapping paper or getting bauble glitter stuck to his nose, he’s been enjoying the crisp, Cornish breeze ruffling his fur.
Christmas in Cornwall is a fantastic time of year and it’s certainly Murphy’s favourite with all the delicious smells coming from the kitchen, the wrapping paper rolls ready to be unfolded and of course not forgetting the tree!
But Christmas Day is a particularly nice time to be out dog walking, with everyone in festive hats wishing you a Merry Christmas and the chance to discuss some New Year’s resolutions.
This year, we decided to take Murphy to Gwithian Beach where he was keen to get the sand between his paws. With such a major expanse of soft sand ahead of him, he didn’t quite know where to go!
There were lots of dogs bounding around the beach in excitement. Murphy’s little ears pricked up, his long tail wagging frantically as he decided whose games he’d like to join in with.
He met a rather friendly Doberman that he played an energetic game of chase with, and when he got tired he befriended a little Jack Russell sporting a snazzy festive jumper!
The family enjoyed a flask of hot chocolate together, sat on a blanket watching the waves rolling in. Murphy came back to see us for a biscuit now and again before darting off to play with another dog and we left Gwithian with pink cheeks and a very happy doggie!
