As our doors are open once again following the Covid-19 pandemic, we would like to reach out and assure you of all the hard work that’s been going on at Merchant House Hotel.
New Safety Measures
In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, we have been working closely alongside Visit Cornwall and Visit Truro on a detailed reopening plan for the Hotel. Committed to ensuring your safety and comfort, we have also implemented a new series of safety measures throughout Merchant House Hotel, including staff retraining, PPE provision and a strict cleaning regime (with no single pen or key un-sanitised!). Read our Covid-19 Risk Assessment here.
Under new guidelines set by the Government, you must wear your face mask in all public areas of the Hotel including corridors – the only times you are not required to wear a mask is whilst having breakfast and/or having drinks in our Bar/Lounge via table service.
For COVID safety reasons we ask that you do not have any visitors at the Hotel during your stay with us.
If you have any symptoms of COVID before you’re due to stay with us, do not travel, please call to cancel your booking.
Easy Check Ins
We ask that you arrive after 4pm as our strict cleaning regime means that we cannot allow entry any earlier than this time. If you arrive before 4pm please feel free to park in our car park, have a walk into the City and return to check in from 4pm. As part of a new streamlined system, guests will now be invited to wait outside before checking in. Limiting contact during check in, payment for your stay will be taken from your allocated card on the morning of your arrival and a Perspex screen has been put up in reception. As well as the use of two entrances, for arrival and breakfast, to help with social distancing, other additions include plenty of signs to reiterate guidelines and hand sanitiser dispensers for squeaky clean fingers!
Check out is simply leaving your key in the box on the reception desk when you leave and we will email you your receipt.
Stripping away some decorative items and with all laundry undergoing strict cleaning procedures, we are doing everything possible to make sure your bedroom is a real sanctuary. Accompanying your tea trays will be disposable cups and spoons, and to minimise contact, housekeeping teams will not enter your bedroom during your stay. Look forward to hours exploring Cornwall’s beautiful surrounds before coming back to your private room, complete with flatscreen TV and en-suite bathroom.
Included in your room rate is our freshly cooked full breakfast served between 7.00-9.30am Monday – Friday and 8.00-10.00am Saturday, Sunday and bank holiday Mondays. Our Continental items will be available every day from 6.30am if you require an early start, or if you are leaving prior to 6.30am then please see Reception the evening before to provide you with a takeaway breakfast bag. We will be offering table service for breakfast in our large additional breakfast room with limited socially distanced tables, therefore this will be subject to availability so please wait to be seated in the Lounge.
Better still, we have even installed a new touchless coffee machine – so you can enjoy a hot brew to go on the house, touch-free! Also included in your room rate is complimentary tea, coffee and sweet treat during the afternoons.
After spending weeks cooped up, we’re sure the promise of fresh sea air, sprawling beaches and cobbled streets will be well and truly fuelling your sense of adventure. Giving you more security, we’re now implementing a flexible rate which will give all of our guests a free 24-hour cancellation window.
