Cotswold Recommends – What to Pack for a Walking Day Out in Cornwall

This month the Merchant House team spoke to our friends at Cotswold Outdoors to see what they’d recommend packing for a walking day out in Cornwall. This is what Truro store manager Joe had to say…

Cotswold Top Picks

With plenty of rain forecast over the next couple of months, now is the time to look after your kit, so why not start by waterproofing everything with Nikwax?

This way you’ll be fully waterproofed and ready for anything the elements throw at you.

What’s more, why not accessorise your adventure with one of these merino wool buffs? The merino wool buffs benefit from thermal regulation meaning that you’ll be comfortable at all times. The fabric’s seamless cylinder form is great as it can be used as a scarf, headband, beanie and more!

If you’ve got a busy day out or a walking weekend planned, the merino wool buff is a great choice as it has natural antibacterial agents in it which means that it prevents odours and means you can wear it for longer without needing to wash it.

You also never know when you’re going to get stuck in a dark area and need to spread a little extra light – what’s more you might be staying out late and need to be able to see where you’re going! So Cotswold recommends the Tikka head torch to shed some light on things… At the moment it’s on offer at less than half price!

The head torch provides plenty of light from a single, wide beam LED, while leaving your hands free. It’s weather resistant and has a massive 40m beam!

Last on the list was the Clif energy bar! It’s important when walking to keep those energy levels up so this little bar chock-full of whole grains, fibre and protein is a perfect mix of everything your body needs to keep it going.

If you’ve got any favourite items you can’t live without for a walking trip, head on over to the Merchant House Facebook or Twitter page and tell us what you’d like to see added to the list!
